Hearing someone talking recently about Hyundais I asked him how reliable of a car was it. He said that the Hyundai engines were really reliable for him. He had recently had a bad experience with an auto repair shop and was frustrated. Anytime I even hear people mention that they had been taken advantage of when getting their car repaired it brings me back 25 years ago, when my wife and I had our first car. We loved this car right when we saw it. It was a Volkswagon beetle. My wife loved it more then I did even. We did not even test drive the car we heard it crank up and it sounded great. The dealer told us that it was a great running car and we did not have to worry about the engine because they were easy to work on. Just a note if you are ever told that it is a bad sign. If you can imagine we bought the car on the spot which I still can not believe. We had the car a week and one thing happened and then another. It would have been nice to have had a company that wanted to save us money by cutting out the middle man and shipping us the parts so we were not stuck with the exorborant overpricing of the car dealership. The repair shop had the car more then we did. Our neighbor thought that when she saw the car we were having company because she did not see it often. One day we got the news that the transmisson needed replacing and seeing the gigantic repair bill we decided to add up our repairs on that old Volswagon Beetle. In two years of constant repairs we had put in enough money to pay cash for a brand new car. We were sick. We made a joke that we wish someone would steal it but they would not get far. Amazingly enough I was at work a week later and my Volkswagon with a brand new transmisson was stolen. The police said that car thieves probably took it and will use it for parts. I told him well they got a gold mine there because all of her parts were new. I have to admit we had built that car one part at a time and I really still miss it. Sounds like the next car we buy for reliablity should be a Hyundai.
