The old saying is that, if there is a way to make money there will be an entrepenaur that will figure out a way. Since their seems to be more cell phones or portable devices that are connected to the internet verses computers all of the entrepenuers are looking for ways to make money from cell phones. This might be where mobile marketing will come into play very heavyly over the next several years. The one that sounds interesting is where businesses do not pay unless they have a paying customer. The phone app will pay you and I for checking in places where we go every day. This is just what businesses want when spending money on any form of advertising, getting the money first and then the consumer customer will get a rebate from their purchase. That is almost like a coupon, I think. Since there are millions of potential customers, I see the potential that business will push this kind of advertising from the advertiser. This means add firms will have to get customers to buy to get back a few coins.  For me this is not that hard a concept, you can sign me up for this type of mobile advertising.
